For the second time in a month, the Dudley's made the trip from Ames to Des Moines with a stack of records and a guitar. The first time on the show, was just Bryon doing the acoustic side of his band Otter. This time, the husband/wife duo brought Jordan, lead singer of Ames band, Strong Like Bear.
The difference between Strong Like Bear and Otter is more than just the additional member. It’s the songwriting, the style and the direction of the band. SLB is acoustic rock, with an emphasis on songwriting, as they have two writers and two singers. While Otter has a bigger rock sound, with Bryon leading the charge. We talk all about Strong Like Bear during the interview; we also filled in some of the things we forgot to talk about with Otter.
It’s always great to have guests on the show who are pumped about bringing in records to show off. Luckily Bryon and Rachel have done it twice, as they have some amazing records to display. I finally got the chance to see the Radiohead “In Rainbows” special addition vinyl, which was very cool. With a great selection of old and new albums, the night’s music flowed like a Pandora radio station. Here is what we played…
