I’ve had many great Scented Vinyl sessions with regular customers of the café; it makes them really easy to set up and it’s fun because I already know the guest. Some examples include: Soapbox Prophets, Finn Miles, Cashes Rivers, Josh Davis and now Longbottom Leaf. Half of Longbottom Leaf anyways, they don’t perform live all that often and an acoustic setting is definitely not something they have ever done. Things turned out great though.
Singer/Songwriter Blake Brown came to the show with one of the more impressive beards I’ve seen recently; and his band Longbottom Leaf just released their first album, so there was a lot to talk about.
This was actually the first ever show in which we didn’t play any records, no records at all! I had some great one’s picked out too, but we spent so much time at the studio recording the interview and songs, time just ran out. I’m glad we put in the extra time at the studio though; the band has never done an acoustic session before so it took some extra time to get it right. Drummer Jordan Krohn also drums for the Drake Symphony, so it took some time to get every right. It was one of those rare occasions that somebody pulled off a set a Mars Café with a full drum kit.
