Flatform Interview
Monday night, my friends from Flatform were booked for the show and I knew they would bring in some
killer records.

In fact I hardly had to bring in any albums at all, I only brought in two to play; the new Yeah Yeah Yeah’s
album and a Kraftwerk album that both John and Adam had as well.  For the better part of the night,
Flatform was in charge of the music; which they handled easily as that’s what they do every Sunday night at
the Lift downtown with Weekend Records.

The amount of music we had to choose from was ridiculous, most of which I had never seen before.  Since
they didn’t perform, we just played albums for over two hours, while enjoying 2-dollar Old Main’s.  After
the show, my mom told me it sounded like we were flying to the moon.  Here is what we played…

Yeah Yeah Yeah’s – It’s Blitz
GQ – Disco Nights
Laurie – Anderson – Big Science
Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind – John Williams
ELO – Time
Kraftwerk – Autobahn
New Order – Movement
Miami Vice II
Click Click/Borgesia – Doublebill
Chicken Lips – Blanc Tape
Lowfish – Elemenator
Ultramagnetic MC’s – Critical Breakdown
Ratatat – Mirando
Klaxons – Golden Skans
Trisomie 21 – Joh’ Burg
Buggles – Age of Plastic
Orchestral Maneuvers – In the Dark
Asteroids – Atari Theme
Crystal Castles /Health Spilt 7”

Flatform didn’t perform for this weeks show, at the studio or at Mars Cafe.  Although, in theory, they
performed the entire time, as playing music and creating a fun atmosphere to be in is what they do.  This
time there just weren’t lights to compliment the music; during a regular show, Adam controls the video and
John the sound while they mix the two live.

Download the interview to find out everything else Flatform, and head to www.flatform.net to listen to past
mix’s and find out about current happenings.  They’ve also set up www.weekendrecords.net to document
and discus what they play each weekend at the Lift.
