Last night we officially released the new EP by Finn Miles, “Telltale Heart”. It was quite the event; the café
was alive with friends, family and great music. Finn Miles knows how to release an album, despite this only
being their second, but I should have expected this much, as they turn every show into an interactive event.
We had a “setting free” of the EP’s, by cutting open the box to reveal the artwork and to give Paul Gratton
a chance to thank everyone involved with the album. Which happened to be a lot of people, as “Telltale
Heart” was a collaborative effort between many talented artists and musicians. Most of the people that
worked on the album live around the Des Moines area, we talk all about the album and what’s next during the
interview…
There was a different format to this week’s show, since we really wanted to showcase Finn Mile’s new
music. So the album playing was short, followed by an audience Q&A, which was a lot of fun. The
highlight for me was another surprise appearance by Tina Haase Findlay, the live music for the night was
incredibly loud for Mars Café, which was perfect.
I only brought up 5 albums to this session; I knew that the band would bring in some albums to make me
jealous, so I didn’t feel the need to bring more. I was right, Wade Stover, drummer extraordinaire, brought
in some fantastic albums that have never been on the show before. After hearing Joy Division on vinyl, I
decided that will be my next purchase. Here is what we played…
The Band – Music From The Big Pink
TV On The Radio – Dear Science
Joy Division – Unknown Pleasures
Richard Swift – The Novelist
Death Cab For Cutie – Something About Airplanes
Thom Yorke - Eraser
